Hi my Love,

You are probably already aware that the World Series is 3 games, Indians to 2 games, Cubs. This has been a grueling baseball postseason. If you read all the sports blogs about this series you will hear how it has been since 1908 that the Cubs last won the World Series. And you'll also hear that the Indians last won the Series in 1948, the year after you were born. I am so sorry you missed that season because of your age. And I am also sad that you aren't here to keep fighting for your Indians.

The Cubs have waited so long to be the world's best baseball team, and with their 103 wins for the season, they do have the best record in baseball. But the Indians have peaked at just the right time. Their lead in the series of 3 games to the Cubs 2 games is a wonderful reminder of this. Since the American League won the All-Star game, we get home field advantage during the World Series.

I have been watching the games, but mostly to see if I can find you. I truly expect to see you standing next to the Indians pitcher whispering in his ear what pitch and where to get the Cubs batters out. I remember how you used to call the pitch and toss your rolled-up socks at the TV as you protected your teammates against the agony of a loss. You were so cute. And I loved you so very much.

I also remember how you wanted written on the back of your tombstone, "Wake me when we win the World Series!" And I expect you'll come waltzing into the house if they are fortunate to win. I so want to see you again, and not just for baseball, although that is what has given me the courage to write you another letter.

The Presidential race is out-of-control! Can you believe Donald Trump is the Republican candidate for President? He is up against Hillary Clinton, who is the Democratic candidate. I wish you were here to talk with me about how I should view all this. That you don't see the disintegration of democracy in the United States as I see it. I read an article today that talked about the disintegration in the rule of law in the U.S. And that that might be the real victim in this entire mess. I just can't see how we got into such a difficult predicament. I could see it coming, and I knew I couldn't abide the conclusion.

Not only that, but the Director of the FBI has found and advertised additional emails from Clinton without knowing what was in them, throwing the election into a tailspin. It is as though he wanted to even the score from July when he said that there would be no charges for her email debacle.

I have to go to the reference desk in a minute. Did you know that I am working at LSC-CyFair,  your old school? They remember you fondly. Everyone tells me how much they enjoyed talking with you. James Brown died about a year and a half ago, but you probably already knew that, didn't you? Both of the Fey's are gone now also.

Boy, I wish I had you hear to talk to. We could ride in to work together and talk all the way to work and all the way home from work, like we used to do. What a great adventure we would be on, right?

Your license plates finally came off my car as I sold the Honda Fit to Greg, who didn't think it was appropriate for him to drive around in a car what advertised he was "Frank's Girl." But you are always in my heart.

The longer you are gone, the more I remember and want us to be together again. I pray that is what you want also.

I'll love you forever.
